An economically growing city needs an efficient and reliable transport system, indeed. It is because a sound mass transport system is believed to be one of the most important factors that will propel a city in its journey to reach greater economic heights in the coming years. Fortunately, the Local Government of General Santos espouses this same principle as well. That is why, various initiatives were made by the LGU to somehow improve the city's transport system.

Just last year, December 16, 2017, the city government, together with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), officially launched the first Hybrid Electric Road Train (HERT) in the country. This was done through a MOA signing between the two government agencies. The momentous event was witnessed by key officials of the city government, media practitioners and, most especially, the Generals themselves.

Accordingly, the DOST will assist the LGU in the operations of the HERT for the first few months. It is expected that the said transport system will begin operating early this year. Overhauling the whole of GenSan's decrepit transport system will not be an overnight process, but this one is a good start. Go GenSan!
